Demotech Announces 2011 Financial Stability Ratings® of Title Underwriters

Columbus, Ohio, May 2, 2011: Demotech, Inc. has affirmed most of the Financial Stability Ratings® (FSRs) assigned to Title underwriters based on a review of year-end 2010 statutory financial information.  FSR revisions were made to the following Title underwriters:

The FSR assigned to Equity National Title Insurance Company (NAIC# 12234) was withdrawn as the company is in the process of dissolving and will voluntarily surrender its license, using portfolio reinsurance to protect its insureds.

  • The FSR assigned to Title Guaranty and Trust Company of Chattanooga (NAIC# 50261) was withdrawn at the company’s request.

FSRs are a leading indicator of the financial stability of Title underwriters and present Demotech’s opinion of the ability of the insurer to meet its insurance related obligations based upon our assessment of financial information.  FSRs are not an endorsement of any particular insurer or its products.  Insureds and agents need to independently evaluate their relationship with a particular insurer as well as the applicability of that insurer’s products to the needs of the insured or agent.
